La date de la Fête du Vodoun au Bénin a été modifiée !

Porto-Novo, Bénin____(TRiboLAND) La fête nationale du Vodoun, qui se tenait habituellement le 10 janvier au Bénin, change de date. Cette décision a été officialisée le 30 juillet 2024, lorsque les députés de la 9e législature ont adopté, à l’unanimité, un projet de loi visant à établir une nouvelle date pour la célébration des religions endogènes dans le pays. Cette révision marque un tournant important dans la reconnaissance et la valorisation des traditions religieuses locales.
fête du Vodoun a été instaurée au Bénin dans les années 90 par le gouvernement du président Nicéphore Soglo. Depuis lors, cette célébration est devenue un moment emblématique, un rendez-vous incontournable pour l’ensemble des Béninois. Chaque année, toutes les régions du pays, du nord au sud et d’est en ouest, s’unissent pour célébrer cet événement, rejoignant à Ouidah – le cœur spirituel du Vodoun – les plus hauts dignitaires réunis pour célébrer l’héritage précieux que leurs ancêtres leur ont transmis : le Vodoun.
La commémoration, précédemment célébrée le 10 janvier, sera désormais observée le deuxième vendredi de janvier chaque année. Selon la nouvelle législation, le jeudi précédant ce vendredi sera également déclaré jour férié. Ainsi, les Béninois pourront profiter d’une période de festivités prolongée, s’étendant sur quatre jours, du jeudi au dimanche de la deuxième semaine de janvier.
Les Béninois, touchés au plus profond d’eux-mêmes, ont salué cette décision avec enthousiasme. Ils ont exprimé une gratitude sincère envers les « Ahouandjô » (Vodoun) et les esprits des ancêtres, reconnus comme les sources d’inspiration ayant guidé les autorités dans cette initiative.
